ITU Regional Forum will be held in Tashkent

10-13 June 2008 in Tashkent will be held the ITU Regional Development Forum 2008 for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and the Baltic States “Bridging the ICT standardization gap in developing countries” and World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2008 (WTSA-08) Regional Preparatory Meeting for CIS Region. ITU Regional Forum is organized for the heads of ministries and national regulatory bodies who are responsible for the issues regarding ICT, operators and telecommunication service providers in the region, with the purpose of discussion and exchange of experience on urgent issues in the ICT standardization sphere, as well as for more close acquaintance with ITU activity in the given direction. Moreover in the Forum the ways and facilities of strengthening the cooperation and expansion of participation in the ITU work in standardization area, and wider introduction of ITU standards in CIS, CEE and Baltic states will be discussed. WTSA-08 Regional Preparatory Meeting for CIS Region is directed to the coordination of opinions and positions in the region on issues having the special value, with the purpose of coordination of proposals and their representation as regional proposals to ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly that will be held in October 21-30, 2008 Johannesburg, RSA. In the mentioned events is planned the participation more than 50 experts from CIS, CEE and Baltic states, as well as the directors of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau and RCC Executive Committee. |
