In Tashkent the representatives of CIS Countries discussed the preparation to the ITU WTSA-08

Today on June 12, 2008 in Tashkent was held the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2008 Regional Preparatory Meeting for CIS Countries. In the Regional meeting took part the representatives of the Administrations of communications and telecommunication operators from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The meeting consisted of two parts: WTSA-08 preparation briefing and the WTSA-08 Regional preparatory meeting. In the first part of the meeting the participants discussed the major outcomes of WTSA-04 (Florianopolis, 2004) and the preparation status of WTSA-08, including expected participants, objectives of WTSA-08, and information on logistics. There will also be information on the Global Standardization Symposium to be organized on 20 October 2008 just ahead of WTSA-08. During the meeting were presented the reports on WTSA-08 preparation: Bridging the standardization gap; Revision of ITU-T Study Group structure and study questions; ITU-T and ITU-R cooperation on standardization, Reports on the regional development forums in other regions. In the second part of the meeting were presented the information of the Preparatory Group of the Regional Commonwealth in field of Communication (RCC) to WTSA-08, discussed the regional contributions to WTSA-08, proposals on revision of study commissions. The participants of the Regional Meeting noted that the forthcoming World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly is one of the important ITU events affecting the interests of the wide range of consumers, equipment manufacturers, and telecommunication service providers, and determine the ITU-T activity for the following 4 years.
According to the discussed and reviewed issues in the meeting the corresponding solutions are adopted. |
